What I discovered tonight is that there is one volume level below the lowest bar on Mac laptops! Just use the lower volume button until the sound is completely gone, then hit the mute button. This automatically “unmutes” the sound, even though you didn’t mute it, you just turned the volume way down. Once you “unmute” the sound it takes you to a super low volume setting that isn’t available using the volume buttons. This is a great little trick that I will definitely be using from time to time.

For the past three years I’ve lived in or near Mountain View working for Google, HP, Accenture and a couple of smaller startup firms. These environments all demand a clean cut look but you don’t have to break the bank to get it. La Bella is great in this respect and all of the stylists are friendly. I’ve found that going in on weekday afternoons around 1 or 2pm is perfect to miss the crowds. It’s convenient too because Costco is right there and Petco as well as Office Max and the Verizon store.

My haircuts at La Bella Salon are only $10 but I tend to tip well so it’s a bit extra. Even so, this is a great place to check out if you’re a guy looking for a decent do. I’ll be taking some pictures and sharing media soon so check their site often.

One of the huge benefits of this product is that it can help to section off lab environments so that each student or lab worker has their own freezer. This approach is much more organized and efficient, avoiding potential mix-ups and the tragedy of the commons (where the one lab fridge turns into a huge mess).

Tonight I helped the founder and his team update their logo, target a new audience and identify social media tools to help them reach scientists and other end users who work in labs.
